Biography
I was born in Massachusetts, but spent my childhood growing up in northern New Jersey. I studied English and Comparative Literature at Rutgers University, graduating in 2007. Still undecided on a career path and with a passion for travel, I spent a year teaching English in Seoul, South Korea. It was an amazing experience and it helped me decide to pursue a career in education.
When I returned to the states, I earned my teacher's certification from Ramapo College of New Jersey. After spending a semester student teaching in an urban charter school, I was offered a job in Southern Maryland teaching high school English.
While teaching, I also worked part-time as a technical editor for the instructional design (ISD) department at Aviation Systems Engineering Company (ASEC), a Navy contractor. This is where I was first exposed to computer-based interactive training and programs like Articulate E-Learning software. I was soon offered a full-time position with ASEC and took the opportunity to learn as much as I could about instructional design, e-learning, technical writing, and corporate training.
When the contract I was supporting was due to end, I was offered a new job as a technical writer with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in Washington, DC, and eventually moved into my current position at the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS). I am the Director of Learning and Development for the State Regulatory Registry (SRR), and I plan and develop online learning to help facilitate the use of the Nationwide Multi-state Licensing System (NMLS).
I currently live outside of Annapolis with my wife and twins. Whenever we get the chance, we enjoy going back to New Jersey to visit with friends and family.
